Fire Protection Engineer
Responsibilities
- Perform independent reviews and assessments of fire protection systems during various project phases.
- Evaluate project documentation and field practices for compliance with NFPA, UFC, and other regulations.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including A/E teams and installation fire departments.
- Provide written recommendations to improve fire protection design and coordination.
- Review system test data, reports, and visual documentation related to fire suppression and detection systems.
- Prepare written summaries assessing system performance and compliance based on field documentation.
- Develop technical memoranda, evaluation reports, and compliance documentation for quality assurance.
- Offer subject matter expertise to design teams on fire protection design and code interpretation.
- Support internal team development by mentoring staff and delivering training sessions.
- Contribute to the development of reference materials, training content, and lessons learned.
- Perform all work independently under A/E supervision.
Requirements
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire protection design and engineering.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, UFC requirements, and relevant fire safety standards.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Experience supporting federal, military, or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
Work Environment
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including architectural and engineering teams and fire departments.
- Focusing on design, construction, and post-construction phases of projects.
- Emphasizing compliance with NFPA, UFC, and other fire safety standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Fort Worth, TX.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.70 - $62.50/hr.
