About the role
AECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Fire Protection Engineer with a PE license for immediate employment in our Tampa, FL office.
Responsibilities
- Serving as lead fire protection engineer for designs on a variety of building project types, including mid-to large size architecture and facility projects.
- Able to organize workload and work independently on project-specific design tasks and lead staff and client communications.
- Able to communicate and present with clients and discuss/explain technical solutions to project conditions.
- Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.
- Providing technical input to studies and design and expertise for staff's specific areas of expertise/assignment.
- Coeordinating scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.
- Versed in technical software related to industry expertise for design, calculation, modeling, and documentation.
- Fully versed in relevant life safety, code, and relevant governing standards related to the project, location, and best practices.
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for design approach and specific technical design aspects (design tools, analysis, standards, design, and calculations, etc.).
- Participating in development of technical proposals (including estimates for the engineering budget and schedule).
- Reviewing permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper project design and permitting applications.
- Working closely with other departments from the AECOM project teams or offices to provide value and partner in project opportunities.
- Participating and supporting site investigations and construction related activities.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License).
- Experience in leading engagement and interface with client teams.
- Experience using relevant software required in design, calculation, and execution of project designs.
- Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications).
- Experience in organizing and delivering projects and milestones in timely and accurate manner.
- In-depth experience with construction phase services for projects (field reviews, RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews, specifications, as-builts and record drawings, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience with permitting projects, and interaction with authorities having jurisdiction.
Qualifications
- Valid US Driver’s License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
- Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
