Establish, coordinate, and manage all field activities for fire alarm installation, ensuring adherence to Summit Fire & Security’s quality program, procedures, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all field activities from pre-construction meetings to installation, coordinating with sales, design, and permitting teams.
  • Visit job sites regularly to coordinate work with other trades and ensure project clarity with customers, AHJs, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Install systems in the field alongside foremen and apprentices.
  • Schedule staffing weekly and plan jobs over a 3-month period using the Weekly Manpower Report and 3 Month Manpower Planning Report, updated twice monthly.
  • Establish material delivery dates based on project schedules and ensure all materials, plans, and information are provided to the foreman before job start.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the project GC/Superintendent, ensuring clear communication with the assigned foreman.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure all materials are ordered and delivered.
  • Purchase or rent all equipment needed for each job.
  • Participate in weekly progress report meetings to communicate job status, including rough-in percentage, completion percentage, and expected durations.
  • Observe and communicate design changes to the original plan.
  • Follow up on punch-lists and secure customer sign-off upon completion.
  • Report scheduling delays, personnel issues, safety concerns, or incidents to your direct supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Review employee time sheets, reports, and training records for accuracy and timely submission per company policy.
  • Ensure all assigned employees comply with job requirements and assigned tasks.
  • Review all field employees per company policy; coordinate disciplinary actions, suspensions, or terminations with the FA&S Manager and document appropriately.
  • Maintain company-provided vehicle and tools in accordance with company policies, including tool inventories and reporting lost or stolen tools.
  • Understand and follow Summit Fire & Security’s safety program, SDS book, hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure all required safety training is scheduled and conducted per company policy and that all field employees know the location of safety documentation on each project.
  • Coordinate and ensure training for alarm foremen and apprentices is scheduled and conducted per company policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • NICET or state-specific certification (preferred).
  • 3 years of Fire Life Safety Industry experience, specifically in Fire Alarm (required).
  • NICET Level 1 Fire Alarm Certification (required).
  • 3 years of professional computer skills (preferred).
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • 1+ years using business intelligence systems, Sage 300 CRE, or similar (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (required).
  • Ability to comply with Summit Fire & Security’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time, locally.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Frequently bend, ascend/descend ladders/stairs, kneel, lift under 50 lbs, reach above/below shoulders, stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Occasionally balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 50 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
  • Must see in color, close/far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus.
  • Regularly work outside, exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.
  • Occasionally work indoors in an office setting, alone, or with others.
  • Consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies.
