About the role
Provides financial, credit, debt management counseling and education services to patients. Utilizes alternative means for obtaining coverage for uninsured or underinsured patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex insurance verification and eligibility determinations
- Carry out varied administrative and highly responsible clerical functions of a sensitive nature
- Conduct complex investigative and problem-solving activities to minimize the hospital's bad debt risk
Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience
- 2 years experience as a financial counselor or related role in a healthcare environment required
- 5 years experience in a clerical role required
- Experience and knowledge of hospital registration and third party billing and regulations required
- Bilingual Spanish and English communication preferred
Schedule
- Part-time
- Day shift
- 15 hours per week
