FINANCIAL COUNSELOR PAR I
About the role
The Financial Counselor PAR I is responsible for managing a call queue and supporting patients by initiating financial assistance applications, handling self-pay accounts, setting up payment arrangements, processing payments, and addressing billing inquiries related to patient accounts for both hospital and physician billing.
Responsibilities
- Initiate financial assistance applications and handle self-pay accounts
- Set up and manage payment arrangements
- Process payments and address billing inquiries
- Deliver account status updates to patients and insurance companies
- Detect and direct billing or coding issues to relevant departments for resolution
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years' experience working in a healthcare setting with an emphasis in physician/hospital collections, insurance verification, and/or financial counseling
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations and various analysis techniques
- Working knowledge of third party regulation, collection laws and techniques
- Excellent communication and customer service recovery skills
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

- High School Diploma/GED
