About the role
To provide support to the accounting department functions of this premier nonprofit agency. The right candidate will be primarily responsible for processing invoices, managing vendor payments, and ensuring compliance with organizational and grant requirements, while supporting efficient and effective financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and make recommendations
- Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with organizational and funding guidelines
- Maintain vendor files, prepare payment runs, and monitor outstanding balances to ensure timely payments
- Aid in the preparation of financial reports related to program expenditures and grant-funded projects
- Investigate and report to the manager any inconsistencies or improprieties of accounts
- Prepare and analyze account reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Analyze and approve of project expenditures as well as invoicing per contracted grants
- Support the preparation of claim reports to funding agencies
- Collaborate with other accounting staff on special projects and audits as needed
- Assist the Department Leader in preparing accounting reports, summaries, and graphical presentations for management or board-level review
- Assist the department as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on accounting experience
- Computer knowledge including the ability to operate computerized accounting
- Spreadsheet and word processing programs such as Microsoft Office and email at high proficiency level
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish is required
