About the role

The duties of this position are highly visible to others on-campus and in the community. This position assists with processing timely scholarship awards and ensuring various scholarship programs disburse according to donor specifications and institutional or Board of Regents policies. The position requires complex knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations, scholarship administration rules related to donor memorandums of understanding, the Millennium Scholarship Program, and other state scholarship/grant programs.

This position works closely with the Recruitment team, the UNLV Foundation, the UNLV Graduate College, various UNLV Departments, summer orientation programs, Clark County High Schools, the Cashiering and Student Accounts Office, the Nevada Treasurer’s Office and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). Additionally, the Scholarship Counselor works with external foundations and programs in applying funds provided as scholarships via checks and other means to student accounts.

By addressing systemic obstacles and implementing strategic services, programs, and support, this position will play a part in enhancing student enrollment, retention, successful progression, timely completion, and equitable outcomes, in order to meaningfully contribute to the institution's commitment to expand access, grow enrollment, and promote career-ready student success that leads to timely graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Process timely scholarship awards and ensure disbursement according to donor specifications and institutional or Board of Regents policies
  • Maintain complex knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations, scholarship administration rules, donor memorandums of understanding, the Millennium Scholarship Program, and other state scholarship/grant programs
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment team, UNLV Foundation, UNLV Graduate College, various UNLV Departments, summer orientation programs, Clark County High Schools, the Cashiering and Student Accounts Office, the Nevada Treasurer’s Office and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE)
  • Work with external foundations and programs to apply scholarship funds to student accounts via checks and other means
  • Run, accurately monitor, and interpret data; analyze scholarship program information within spreadsheets and review reports for further analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreduation (CHEA)
  • 1–3 years of related professional experience
