About the role
The Financial Aid Verification Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining federal compliance and supporting students. Verification is a major barrier to financial aid access and program completion; this position facilitates the process for selected students in a timely, compliant, and compassionate manner. Approximately 75% of UNLV students receive financial aid, totaling $275 million annually.
All positions in Academic Affairs contribute to the university’s core mission: increasing enrollment and promoting equitable student success. This role addresses systemic obstacles and implements strategic services to enhance student enrollment, retention, progression, timely completion, and equitable outcomes, aligning with UNLV’s commitment to expand access and promote career-ready success.

Responsibilities
- Communicate with students about the verification process.
- Collect required documents as needed.
- Review submitted documents to ensure accuracy of student Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information and make corrections as needed.
- Relay impacts of verification on student financial aid packages to students, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) staff, and other constituents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation). Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
- 1–3 years of related professional experience.
- A Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of work experience.
