About the role

The Student Assistant in the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships - Palm Desert Campus provides critical support to the financial aid representative. This role is primarily responsible for general office duties, such as scanning, duplicating, typing, viewing student’s files, answering phones, and providing customer service via front counter. Student assistant will assist with outreach, job fairs, tabling and other events at Palm Desert Campus.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with guests via verbal, written and electronic correspondence (i.e. answering phones, sending emails, assisting students with general questions via front counter).
  • Aid with clerical functions for the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at the Palm Desert Campus (i.e. file paperwork, maintain an organized working environment, make deliveries around campus, pass out flyers, phones, scanning etc.).
  • Aid with Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, outreach, and other events. The events include, but not limited to, Job fairs, tabling, FAFSA/CADAA workshops and other Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships events at the Palm Desert Campus. Advance notice will be provided.
  • Social Media Content Creation. Other clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate) for International students.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work;
  • Follow oral instructions;
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students;
  • Communicate effectively with all levels;
  • Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Special Qualifications

  • Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive;
  • Experience working in a customer service-driven environment;
  • Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects and adhering to deadlines;
