About the Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire puts the patient at the heart of everything we do. The organisation comprises Acute Services (hospital-based services across three main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, and North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships, which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services.

About the Role

You will implement and manage the Shared Financial Accounting and Creditors Payment Services for NHS Lanarkshire, maximising efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring value for money. This includes developing and maintaining systems, procedures, and controls to ensure the Accounting System accurately reflects financial information and meets strict monthly reporting deadlines.

You will support the Head of Financial Services in maintaining the Board’s Corporate and Financial Governance systems, including overseeing sound systems of financial control and compliance with recognised Accounting Standards. You will deputise for the Head of Financial Services as required and provide expertise and advice to Senior Managers on all financial matters.

Responsibilities

  • Support the effective and efficient management of public monies allocated to NHS Lanarkshire in accordance with the Strategic Health Plan, Our Health Together, and our financial framework.
  • Lead the development and application of financial systems, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure public funds are properly managed and safeguarded.
  • Ensure policy proposals relating to expenditure or income include all relevant financial considerations, including propriety, regularity, and value for money.
  • Develop and implement financial monitoring and control systems.

Requirements

  • A degree and relevant post-graduate qualification.
  • Professionally qualified Accountant with membership of one of the six bodies recognised by the Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB).
  • Continued Professional Development undertaken since qualification.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience, including substantial experience in a financial management position, demonstrating the level of knowledge, judgment, and expertise required for this role.
