About the role
This internship will provide insight into a New York State Accounting office and the Statewide Financial System.
Responsibilities
- Run reports and queries, analyze and summarize data
- Prepare miscellaneous reconciliations
- Prepare Federal payment justifications and journal entries
- Prepare and review deposits
- File and purge records based on retention regulations
- Enter vouchers in the accounting information system
- Process daily WIOA local area payments
Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university, or graduate program outside of New York State*
- Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two- or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
- Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent
Skills
- Accounting background and working to complete or have completed 24 credit hours
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to understand policies and procedures
Qualifications
Preferred minimum education level: Junior
Preferred maximum education level: Graduate Student
Preferred degree concentrations: Financial Studies, Business Administration
