About the role
The Financial Counselor plays a vital role in helping families navigate healthcare financial responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Identify coverage options
- Secure reimbursement resources
- Reduce financial barriers to care
- Work closely with departments such as Social Work, Case Management, Revenue Cycle, and Physician Billing
- Ensure families can focus on their child's care while receiving assistance with insurance programs, authorizations, payment arrangements, and financial counseling services
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of Financial Counselor experience in a healthcare setting required
- Strong understanding of Medi-Cal programs and insurance authorizations required
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple cases simultaneously required
- Knowledge of government-sponsored healthcare assistance programs preferred
- Experience Working With Uninsured And Underinsured Patient Populations Preferred
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills required
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams required
