About the Role

This on-site position in Birmingham, AL reports to the Production Supervisor. Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Terex safety policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret blueprints; work from drawings, sketches, templates, temporary stop gauging devices, and patterns
  • Set up jigs and fixtures
  • Access computer terminals
  • Operate various types of welding machines (short arc, stick, FCAW) on materials such as X1050 and T-1
  • Operate stationary and/or portable grinders and pneumatic chipping hammers to remove excess metal, oxidation, and foreign matter from weldments and structures
  • Comply with TEREX Utilities quality standards through error prevention and zero-defect requirements
  • Follow and promote The Terex Way Values
  • Comply with all applicable occupational health and safety requirements
  • Function as a team member and contribute to group goals while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Perform other functions as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and 40-100 lbs. with assistance or lifting equipment

Preferred Skills

  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use most hand tools
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Read wiring schematics or willingness to learn
  • Operate welding equipment and overhead cranes
  • Work with small-gauge, multi-colored wires and connectors
  • Tolerance for atmospheric exposure to dust and vapors

Work Environment

  • Ability to stand on concrete for 8+ hours per shift
  • Able to climb ladders and move over and under vehicles
  • Tolerable to heights
  • Certain personal protective equipment is required

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $23 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including education, work experience, and certifications.
