Fieldwork Placement - Southern California

Seneca Family of Agencies · Lake Forest, CA · 1 wk ago
OTHRPart-time

About the Role

Seneca provides in-depth fieldwork placement and training opportunities for MSW, MFT, and PCC interns in Southern California. Placements follow a standard school year schedule beginning in the fall and ending in the spring/summer.

Internships require a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week; certain placements may require 20-24 hours per week or be restricted to final-year students. Exact schedules are decided with the supervising clinician based on the student’s availability and the program’s needs. Due to the sensitive needs of the children and families served, students are asked to assist in providing a healthy transition into and out of their lives.

Opportunities Provided

  • Two-week New Employee Orientation (Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm), synchronous and mandatory.
  • Intensive orientation to Seneca’s population served, values, philosophy, and practice at the start of the fieldwork placement.
  • Hands-on fieldwork experience.
  • Training and supervision focused on the Seneca treatment model.
  • Multiple and varied training opportunities on a wide range of topics applicable to working with children and families.
  • Weekly individual supervision provided by a Seneca Clinician with an appropriate degree or license.
  • Weekly group supervision when applicable to the student’s fieldwork agreement.
  • Opportunity to be part of an agency dedicated to helping provide permanent families for children to thrive.
  • Internship stipend (receipts for educational expenses are required for the full amount).
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements.

Requirements

The training settings are most appropriate for advanced students who already have some exposure to clinical populations and direct work with clients. You must be currently enrolled in a clinical graduate program to qualify.

Note: Fieldwork placements do not automatically lead to employment at Seneca.

Post-Graduate Opportunities

As a post-graduate MSW (ASW), MFT (AMFT), or PCC (APCC), you may qualify for Clinician/Therapist positions at Seneca. As an employee, Seneca will assist you in gaining hours, trainings, supervision, and support as you move toward licensure. For more information, visit Seneca’s Employment Opportunities page.
