Field Technical Representative - South California
About the role
Ensures that assigned revenue, margin, and product-mix objectives within the corporate business framework are met or exceeded in the San Jose, CA region. Responsible for securing, developing, and managing key architects, designers, general contractors, distributors, subcontractors, and end-user accounts. Owns and manages all related performance and service metrics for assigned accounts.
This position is within the Tremco Commercial Sealants and Waterproofing Division, which manufactures sealants, air barriers, waterproofing membranes, traffic coatings, glazing accessories, and more for new construction and restoration. Products are used in parking garages, mixed-use buildings, single-family homes, high-rises, modular construction, residential windows and doors, industrial, and manufacturing markets.
Responsibilities
- Achieve or exceed assigned sales goals and expectations.
- Work primarily with existing accounts while seeking and developing new account opportunities to increase use of Tremco CPG products in assigned territory.
- Manage assigned accounts to establish business development opportunities through account penetration, analysis, partnership with key decision makers, and strategic initiatives.
- Drive product specifications and project opportunities throughout assigned territory.
- Leverage industry knowledge, marketplace dynamics, and key relationships to develop trusted partnerships and advisory relationships with customers, focusing on problem identification, exploration, and resolution.
- Annually prepare and deliver strategic business/territory plans for each customer with monthly forecasts.
- Follow the standard sales process to identify prospects and decision makers, gain customer commitment, predict sales probability, and effectively close deals.
- Manage day-to-day contact, exchange information succinctly, truthfully, and ethically while addressing issues directly and tactfully.
- Develop and deliver technical, high-quality digital collateral, product prospectus, presentations, and business correspondence in support of the sales process.
- Collaborate with senior staff to coordinate and execute product knowledge training sessions with internal and external customers.
- Leverage all available technology for productivity, lead generation, account maintenance, sales and expense tracking, forecasting, account reviews, customer contact, and presentations.
- Work collaboratively with internal support resources to foster teamwork through cooperation, trust, and mutual respect.
- Attend and present business unit products and services at industry conventions and trade shows.
- Maintain extensive product knowledge in all product lines and service offerings.
- Adhere to and enforce all company policies, pricing, and operational procedures, maintaining a professional company image.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Construction Management, and 2-3 years of construction or industry experience OR minimum High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of construction or industry experience.
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training.
- Construction knowledge (e.g., waterproofing, air barriers, framing, modular).
- Basic knowledge of product chemistry.
Skills
- Ability to travel within assigned territory (Southern New England residency preferred).
- Well-organized, self-motivated, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM software preferred.

Pay
The salary range for this position generally starts at $90,000 and increases based on experience.
