Field Technician I - BIRMINGHAM, AL

About the role

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician I to join our dynamic team. This role involves managing assets, maintaining equipment, and performing various network tasks.

Responsibilities

• Processes deliveries and replenishes consumables
• Maintains tools, test sets, and electronic equipment
• Assists in installs, provisions, tests, and maintains DS0 thru OC192 services
• Troubleshoots network equipment, removes and replaces defective modules
• Monitors/locates route and assists in executing restoration in the event of a service interruption
• Performs preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections on equipment and critical infrastructure
• Updates installation records and logs, and provides reports on status updates and issues
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Up to 2 years of relevant job experience
• 1+ years of network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair experience
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant job experience
• Experience in at least one of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, and Outside Plant
• Attention to detail and good organizational capabilities
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively

Skills

• Understanding of installation/change/decommissioning/testing of transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers for all available bandwidths offered

Pay

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Schedule

Understand that this role requires on-call 24x7 on a rotational basis, on stand-by, call out, dispatch, and overtime as dictated by the business.
