Responsibilities
- Support areas of field Service operation within Sungrow USA related to commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the expanding installed sites in the region.
- Report to the regional field service supervisor, responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning support of PV inverters and ancillary equipment/ systems, usually at the customer’s site or at a staging yard/warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with the Safety Mandate, “ZERO HARM,” to ensure safe and efficient work and operation of the facility for all personnel and equipment.
- Implement and enforce safety management policy and procedures regarding the facility: safety information, hazard analysis, safe operations/Maintenance Training, subcontractor compliance, plant integrity, work permits, emergency planning, and response.
- Perform a variety of technical assignments involving the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of string and central solar inverter and/or BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.
- Perform general troubleshooting and diagnosis under Sungrow’s maintenance and repair guidelines.
- Support and perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans.
- For those on O&M capacity, perform Preventive Maintenance and other Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) activities per the contract.
- Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. For BESS positions, these investigations may also involve SOC checks and module /component-level troubleshooting, replacement of electrical/electronic parts, SW version updates, etc.
- Provide feedback to the engineering and project team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements.
- Lead upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware) in the field and interact with customers to explain the project's technical scope and manage work schedule and commitments.
- Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters involving Sungrow’s controllers and F&G systems as needed.
- Accurately describe troubleshooting sequences and procedures which they have observed.
- Identify and document basic mechanical and electrical issues and problems.
- Create/modify Field Service procedures for safety troubleshooting and maintenance if required.
- When using contractors on sites, act as the Lead to ensure the contractors submit daily activity reports and JSA reports and work follows Sungrow standards and expectations.
- Prepare and submit own Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports.
- Work independently in the field and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues, support the investigation of the root cause for technology applications for complex projects.
- Coooperate closely with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain the solar plant operations.
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
- Own creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for full compliance with site documentation and project requirement.
- Serve as a safety second if needed.
Qualifications
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities.
- A ‘completer-finisher’ taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm the success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
- 3 plus years of overall experience in a technical field.
- 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS.
- Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
- Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the ductions of the job.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- OHS, NFPA70A, Electrical Safety Experience and/or certification with MV transformers a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Travel 80% plus.
