Field Service Technician - PV

About the role

The role supports field Service operations within Sungrow USA, focusing on commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of expanding solar installations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, test, and maintain solar inverters and ancillary equipment/systems
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics according to Sungrow’s guidelines
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems
  • Investigate and troubleshoot solar plant issues, including DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients
  • Lead upgrade/rework projects in the field and interact with customers to explain project scope and manage commitments
  • Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up system communication and parameters involving Sungrow’s controllers and F&G systems
  • Prepare and submit daily activity reports and JSA reports
  • Own creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation
  • Follow company safety policies and training requirements, including PPE use
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis and follow established procedures
  • Designated as Authorized Person for Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO)

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
  • Renewable industry experience preferred
  • Power Electronics experience preferred
  • OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire
  • NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Complex problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years of overall experience in a technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in solar inverters or BESS
  • Able to work with test equipment and hand tools
  • Able to follow instructions and procedures
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently in the field and with engineering teams
  • Experience with OSHA, NFPA 70A, and electrical safety
  • Experience with MV transformers a plus
