About the Role
Provide on-site and remote upgrades and troubleshooting of Motorola ASTRO systems. This position is remote and can be performed from most continental US states, with international and domestic travel up to 75% - 80% of the time.
A permanent residence based 60 miles or less from a mid to large class International Airport is required. Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Passport, International Driver’s Permit, and necessary security clearance as required by government contracts.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture (legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure).
- Maintain, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, and troubleshoot system/application-related issues.
- Administer and troubleshoot wired communications systems (LAN/WAN), including network installation, configuration, and maintenance (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, bridges).
- Work closely with Motorola Solutions’ customers, subcontractors, sales, engineering, project management, and customer support teams.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, System Administration, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, IT, IT Systems, Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee Security Suite, MCC7500 Dispatch, NICE Logging, E911, Dispatch, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking equipment, or Military experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance (DOD Secret (T3) within 18 months).
- Complete SF86 questionnaire and fingerprinting for national security positions.
- Obtain either a CompTIA Security+, CISSP certification, or Certified Electronics Technician within the first 12 months of employment.
- Ability to lift equipment of ~50 lbs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail and organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite applications.
- Strong self-management and "people" skills.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of ASTRO core applications such as UNC, PM, UEM, ESXi, IMW, KMF, HBSS, and PKI.
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting IP networks and administering IT-type environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of IP networks and wired communications systems (LAN/WAN).
- Experience with Host Based Security Systems (HBSS), CAC/PIV authentication systems, and Motorola ASTRO upgrades.
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSE, or CISSP certification (preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Motorola ASTRO technology including Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee security suite, MCC7500 dispatch, NICE Logging, IT, LMR, E911, Dispatch, Radio Frequency, or as a Field Service Technician/System Technician/Specialist.
- Experience with US Military communications (preferred).
Pay
Target base salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 USD. Pay varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
