About the role

Field Service Technicians are specialists at supporting Jered’s one-of-a-kind solutions. They remain flexible and adaptable, providing top-notch support to customers and frequently traveling when needed. They collaborate with customers, engineers, and senior team members to complete on-site inspections, maintenance, or repairs of critical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and overhaul electro-hydraulic equipment in the Marine industry and shipyard facilities in a service or warranty capacity as requested by the customer.
  • Estimate large and/or highly technical quotations and address engineering issues for all product lines.
  • Provide technical assistance via telephone and onsite.
  • Perform on-site service and warranty functions as requested by the customer and authorized by Jered.
  • Conduct failure analysis on warranty and service calls, using engineering personnel to determine cause of malfunction and/or the validity of a warranty claim, and coordinate with the customer.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions and convey requirements to craftsmen under supervision when necessary.
  • Generate detailed time, trip, and expense reports in a timely manner as required by Jered procedures.
  • Capture all condition reports to include pricing, and job expenses to include materials, travel, and timekeeping.
  • Ensure all Jered requirements for service and maintenance are complete before leaving the customer’s facility.
  • Advise customers of any additional items that may require replacement, repair, or special service, and provide advice on spare parts procurement.
  • Operate required systems and test equipment safely, following established safety rules, maintaining a neat and clean work area, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ Years of experience in a similar fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and ability to work to NAVSEA work specifications (preferred)
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and marking up blueprints and other technical drawings and material
  • Proficiency with computers and computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Able to obtain and maintain security access to military installations, ships, and commercial shipyards and waterfront controlled industrial areas
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to function within working conditions of a shipyard
  • Able to travel on average 50% domestically and internationally and support evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Valid Driver's License without restriction
