About the role

As a Fuel Handling Equipment Field Service Technician, you will support our FHE Outage and Maintenance Services team by providing field service for nuclear fuel handling equipment or outage critical cranes at remote operating nuclear power plants and local service center operations. This is a remote role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States but requires significant travel (60%-70%). Projects typically last 2-4 weeks, but during Spring and Fall, travel may extend to 2-3 months at a time before returning home. You will use high-technology service equipment while maintaining Westinghouse’s commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Install, set-up, and maintain fuel handling/outage critical crane equipment at customer sites worldwide.
• Review operational procedures, maintenance procedures, and drawings in detail.
• Provide support to engineering and training by performing activities such as equipment modifications, equipment setup and testing, mock-up preparation, process testing, and equipment and process qualifications.
• Document equipment performance issues during field implementation and ensure corrective actions are complete before next scheduled use.
• Participate in training programs to acquire and maintain certifications and keep current with technology and procedures.
• Perform all assigned tasks with support, with a high degree of quality, and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines. Document all quality-related issues.
• Practice a "Safety First" attitude as an important part of all activities. Demonstrate good housekeeping practices in work areas.
• Maintain "Unescorted Access" status at nuclear power plant sites.
• Develop, exercise, and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers, and other departments. Demonstrate good customer sensitivity.
• Report to the service supervisor the status of field work progress, changes, problems, and mistakes on a daily or as-needed basis.
• Work with and around hazardous materials, requiring extensive travel by airplane and automobile.

Requirements

• High school graduate or recognized equivalent plus a 2-year post-high school degree/certificate or equivalent in experience.
• Specific knowledge and training in electrical, electronic, programmable logic controller, or mechanical components.
• 2 or more years of experience demonstrating mechanical, electrical, and programmable logic controller knowledge and skill. Nuclear industry experience is beneficial.
• Subject to Westinghouse and customer security, unescorted access, and fitness for responsibility programs.
• Ability to occasionally carry/lift up to 50 pounds.
• Full range of motion, including the ability to reach, climb, kneel, squat, grasp, bend forwards and backwards, sit, and stand for 4 hours per day.
• Must pass a Westinghouse physical, including a spirometer test for the ability to wear a respirator.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $74,941.84 to $98,759.22 per year, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills.
