Field Service Machinist

CEIS Power is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist with 3+ years of experience machining precision rotating equipment components in a repair or manufacturing environment. This is a direct hire opportunity with an industrial repair and manufacturing company specializing in rotating equipment, turbomachinery, and precision machining services.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other conventional machining equipment
• Machine, modify, and repair rotating equipment components including pumps, compressors, turbines, shafts, and related equipment
• Perform turning, boring, threading, facing, drilling, milling, and other precision machining operations
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
• Measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify tight tolerances
• Inspect incoming and completed components for wear, damage, and dimensional accuracy
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to improve quality and efficiency
• Support equipment teardown, repair, and reassembly activities in both shop and field environments
• Travel approximately 50% to customer sites to support field machining, equipment overhauls, and outage work
• Complete machining documentation and maintain a clean, safe work environment

Requirements

• 3+ years of manual machining experience in a repair, manufacturing, or machine shop environment
• Experience operating manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and precision machining equipment
• Strong understanding of machining rotating equipment components such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and shafts
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
• Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain tight machining tolerances
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50%
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• Rotating equipment, turbomachinery, or pump repair experience
• Experience machining large industrial components
• Knowledge of precision repair and overhaul practices
• Experience supporting field service, outages, or industrial maintenance projects
