About the role
Amazon Prime Air (PA) is seeking a Product Support Organization (PSO) Field Service Engineer to troubleshoot and diagnose day-to-day problems within our drone delivery operations. This role ensures high technical reliability, collaborates with design engineering, and drives continuous improvement in the drone system. You will work on the front lines of drone operations, building relationships with maintainers and operators while providing engineering solutions to enhance system performance and uptime.
As Prime Air scales, you will help bring new sites online by performing remote provisioning and providing hands-on technical support during launches. The role leverages data-driven insights and operational experience to identify and implement system improvements, serving as the liaison between field operations and design engineering.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot daily system performance anomalies and deliver solutions to operations and maintenance teams.
- Assist with launches of new operational sites, including remote provisioning and on-site support.
- Lead cross-functional system investigations with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to optimize drone system performance and drive improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven insights to establish benchmarks and reduce operational burdens.
- Develop and maintain documentation for technical procedures.
- Deliver measurable system behavior improvements based on data analysis to enhance customer experience, proactively engaging stakeholders.
This role requires up to 15% travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- 3+ years of technical troubleshooting or similar experience.
- Strong cross-functional engineering fundamentals (mechanical, electrical, software development basics).
- Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to translate complex system functions into digestible insights for stakeholders at all levels.
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to obtain this license on your behalf.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools.
- 2+ years of experience in technical troubleshooting of electromechanical, aerospace, robotics, or automotive systems.
- Experience working in or supporting an operational environment.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is:
- USA, FL, Ruskin: $129,200 - $174,800 USD annually
- USA, GA, Pooler: $129,200 - $174,800 USD annually
- USA, GA, Stone Mountain: $129,200 - $174,800 USD annually
- USA, MD, Sparrows Point: $129,200 - $174,800 USD annually
- USA, NC, Durham: $129,200 - $174,800 USD annually
Final compensation includes sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
