Field Service Engineer (Austin, TX Area)

About the role

Brooks Automation is a growing, fast-paced technology leader of Automation Solutions supporting the dynamic and expanding Semiconductor and Life Sciences Lab markets. This Field Service Engineer position, based in the Austin, TX area, will perform complex customer support activities involving the installation, modification, repair, and preventive maintenance of Brooks’ equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, modification, repair, testing, upgrade, preventive diagnosis, and maintenance on the software and hardware of Brooks’ equipment and systems.
• Isolate and resolve complex equipment malfunctions, implementing corrective action to ensure company and customer quality standards are met.
• Interface with customers to ensure satisfaction with equipment and service levels; participate in customer operational and status meetings.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to Brooks and customer work protocols and policies.
• Attain Equipment Service and Operation Certification on equipment and systems as defined.
• Submit required reports, such as Service and Status Reports, on all support activities.
• Respond to changing priorities such as tool or line down situations and escalations; support organizational and administrative duties.
• Train Brooks and customer personnel in equipment operation and maintenance procedures; mentor and train less experienced Service Engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement programs and projects for both customers and Brooks to resolve issues.
• Initiate, evaluate, and document new processes or improvements to existing processes.
• Create reports, project plans, training plans, certification matrices, and other documentation as required.
• Present at customer sites or Brooks’ offices directly to customers and/or management.
• Work in a Clean Room environment wearing a full clean room suit according to customer requirements.
• Work schedule aligns with customer needs, including Compressed Work Weeks (CWW), night shifts, and weekends on an individual or team basis.
• Be flexible and available for on-call assignments, including domestic and international travel as needed.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in a technical discipline, technical Certificate, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience providing electro-mechanical/electronics technical support or repair service.
• Relevant Military technical experience or training is a plus.
• Experience with lasers and sensing devices for positioning circuitry on robotic units.
• Experience troubleshooting microelectronics schematics and digital circuits.
• Proficiency with PCs, Windows, and DOS-based Operating Systems.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to obtain a company credit card and passport.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffoldings, and use Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ability to work in awkward positions and confined spaces.

Pay

Base Salary Range: $35.04 USD to $47.40 USD per hour. Factors affecting starting pay include geography, skills, education, experience, and qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
