About the role

Hays Electrical Services is seeking a Field Recruiting Travel Specialist to join our Corporate Team in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on recruiting Licensed Journeyman Electricians, Electrical Apprentices, Foremen, and Superintendents to support our commercial, mission-critical, hospitality, multifamily, and service operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the electrical construction industry, strong connections within the skilled trades community, and the ability to build relationships with business leaders and hiring managers. This position requires extensive travel—up to four weeks at a time—to support recruiting efforts in active project locations throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end recruiting process for positions ranging from Electrical Apprentices and Journeyman Electricians to Foremen and Superintendents
  • Travel to project locations throughout the United States for up to four consecutive weeks to recruit, interview, and engage candidates in local markets
  • Attend career fairs, trade expos, workforce development events, and networking opportunities to promote Hays Electrical Services and attract qualified talent
  • Develop and implement innovative sourcing strategies to identify active and passive candidates through industry networks, job boards, social media, trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and talent databases
  • Conduct thorough interviews to evaluate candidates' qualifications, technical abilities, work experience, and cultural fit
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop, negotiate, and extend employment offers while ensuring alignment with company policies and compensation guidelines
  • Partner closely with hiring managers, field supervisors, and regional leadership to understand current and future staffing needs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade schools, community organizations, workforce agencies, and apprenticeship programs to establish a consistent talent pipeline
  • Provide strategic recruiting guidance and market insights to hiring managers and leadership teams
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified electricians, apprentices, and field leadership candidates through proactive networking and relationship building
  • Utilize recruitment metrics and reporting to track hiring progress, identify gaps, and improve recruiting effectiveness
  • Stay informed on labor market trends, wage data, and competitor hiring practices to maintain a competitive recruiting strategy

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably within the electrical construction, construction, or skilled trades industry
  • Strong understanding of electrical trade positions, including Apprentices, Journeyman Electricians, Foremen, and Superintendents
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse candidate population
  • Demonstrated success sourcing candidates through industry relationships, trade associations, apprenticeship programs, and workforce partnerships
  • Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), social media recruiting platforms, and talent databases (JazzHR preferred)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to analyze recruiting metrics and leverage data to improve hiring strategies and processes
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including up to four consecutive weeks at project locations as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting skilled trades professionals within the electrical construction industry
  • Established relationships with trade schools, apprenticeship programs, workforce development organizations, and industry associations
  • Knowledge of labor market trends within Texas and other key electrical construction markets
  • Experience recruiting in high-volume, fast-paced construction environments
