Our Construction Engineering and Inspection team plays a critical role in turning plans into reality—safely, on time, and within budget. We provide full-service construction administration as well as specialized inspection and testing services for infrastructure including roads, bridges, docks, retaining walls, sign supports, and reservoirs.

As a Field Project Representative 3, you will handle construction observation, administrative duties, and documentation during the construction phase of projects. Due to the field nature of this position, you must be able to travel away from your home location for extended periods and may be required to work night shifts and/or weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Interpret contract plans and specifications
• Observe and inspect contractor work for compliance with contract documents
• Prepare daily construction reports, project documentation, submittal reviews, in-service inspection reports, and construction time estimates (CTEs)
• Assist with force account procedures for extra work
• Respond to requests for information and change orders
• Prepare pay requests and maintain record keeping
• Understand and apply budget and schedule expectations, delivering tasks within set levels of effort
• Employ industry standards and regulations (e.g., local agency, state DOT, EJCDC, ACI, MasterSpec, building codes)
• Communicate frequently with clients, resolve issues on small projects, and attend client meetings
• Perform moderate to advanced technical work on larger, complex projects with a moderate level of autonomy
• Assist with project management tasks as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 4 years of experience required; 3 years with an advanced degree
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Developed understanding of market sector software (AASHTOWare, DocExpress, local agency data management software, Newforma, MS Project, Blue Book Rental)
• Intermediate understanding of technical fundamentals
• Ability to perform moderately complex design tasks independently and lead technical effort on small projects
• Strong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis
• Valid driver’s license required (driving is an essential job function)

Qualifications

• All certifications required by local jurisdiction (e.g., ODOT Drilled Shaft, Traffic Signals, etc.)
• QCCS, Bridge Inspection Team Lead, or PE certification optional
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (or working toward licensure) preferred

• Team player who can follow direction on large projects and lead small teams on simple tasks
• Anticipates the needs of other technical disciplines and takes responsibility for their results
• Strong client interaction skills with situationally appropriate communication (email, phone, in-person)
• Provides quality control of basic deliverables

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands
• Must be able to talk and hear
• May occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate to moderately loud due to proximity to construction sites and related equipment.
