Our Construction Engineering and Inspection team plays a critical role in turning plans into reality—safely, on time, and within budget. We provide full-service construction administration as well as specialized inspection and testing services for infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, docks, retaining walls, sign supports, and reservoirs.
The Field Project Representative 1 is responsible for a wide range of construction observation, administrative duties, and documentation during the construction phase of projects. Due to the field nature of this position, applicants must be able to travel away from their home location for extended periods and may be required to work night shifts and/or weekends as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Interpret contract plans and specifications.
- Observe and inspect work performed by contractors to evaluate compliance with contract documents.
- Perform note-taking, documentation, and preparation of pay requests and record keeping.
- Prepare daily construction reports and project documentation under close direction.
- Conduct submittal reviews and prepare in-service inspection reports.
- Follow force account procedures for extra work.
- Assist with responding to requests for information, change orders, and other field/construction administrative duties.
- Collaborate with supervisors to plan work time on assignments and monitor budget and schedule for simple project tasks.
- Demonstrate basic familiarity with industry standards, including the relationship/order of precedence of contract documents, materials testing, and quantity/quality tracking.
- Occasionally attend client meetings, listen, and prepare meeting minutes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- No prior experience required; entry-level position.
- Ability to obtain minimum certifications required by local jurisdiction within 6 months of hire.
- Valid driver’s license required (driving is an essential job function).
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and market sector software (AASHTOWare, DocExpress, local agency data management software, Newforma).
- Basic understanding of technical fundamentals and ability to perform assigned tasks with oversight.
- Motivated to learn new technical skills through self-study and mentoring.
- Strong teamwork skills; ability to function in a supporting role, collaborate, take direction, and retain information.
- Basic understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand basic statistical analysis.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands.
- Required to talk and hear.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to moderately loud due to proximity to construction sites and related equipment.
