Responsibilities
- Interprets contract plans and specifications
- Observes and inspects work performed by contractors to evaluate compliance with contract documents
- Note taking and documentation
- Preparation of pay requests and record keeping
- Assists with responding to requests for information, change orders, and other field/construction administrative duties as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 4 years of experience required
- 3 years of experience with advanced degree
- All certifications required by local jurisdiction (e.g., ODOT Drilled Shaft, Traffic Signals, etc.)
- QCCS optional
- Bridge Inspection Team Lead optional
- PE optional
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (or working toward licensure) preferred
- Valid driver’s license required for legitimate business purposes
Qualifications
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis
- Sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, lift up to 40 pounds, adjust focus, and work in a moderate to moderately loud environment
Skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Software (AASHTOWare, DocExpress, local agency data management software, Newforma, MS Project, Blue Book Rental)
- Intermediate understanding of technical fundamentals
- Developed understanding of technical fundamentals
- Performs moderately complex design tasks independently
- Effectively divides projects into individual tasks
- Leads technical effort on small projects
- Provides quality control of basic deliverables
- Teamwork: Team player who is able to follow on large, complex projects and lead a small team on simple tasks
- Able to anticipate the needs of other technical disciplines and take responsibility for their results
- Project Delivery: Produces daily construction reports and project documentation, submittal reviews, in-service inspection reports, construction time estimates (CTEs), force account procedures for extra work, and understands budget and schedule
- Able to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort and consistently meet budget and schedule expectations on projects
- Industry Standards and Regulations: Proficiently selects from and employs standards
- Relationship/order of precedence of contract documents: Materials testing and requirements, quantity and quality tracking, local agency, state DOT, EJCDC, ACI, MasterSpec, other building codes
- Client Interaction: Frequent client communications, resolves issues on small projects, attends client meetings, uses situationally appropriate communication tools (e.g., email versus phone versus in-person)

Pay
The hourly range for this position is $40.07 - $60.10. In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
Schedule
The position may also require night shift and/or weekend work as necessary.
