About the role
The Field Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a large workforce across multiple companies and sites.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and process all timecards, corrections, and adjustments from field locations.
- Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of payroll checks to all site locations.
- Calculate and prepare manual layoff/termination/adjustment checks.
- Process transfers to ensure checks print in the correct location.
- Maintain and update rate changes for employees and processes retro payments if required.
- Set up garnishments, 3rd party payments.
- Process terminations.
- Keep current on state and federal regulations to ensure accurate compliance with payroll accounting laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Process and set up credit union accounts and payments.
- Proficient with in-house software and experienced in downloading and transmitting report details.
- Provides training to subordinates.
- Affixes to payroll-related month-end closing activities.
- Produces payroll reports as required for state, federal, union, or corporate reporting purposes.
- Acts as a resource and provides training as needed.

- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player

Qualifications
- Associate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
- Minimum 6 years’ work experience in payroll, preferably with a union employer
- Financial/payroll/tax related training a plus, either formal classes or seminars
- Can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience
