About the role

We are seeking an experienced Casualty Field Adjuster to investigate, evaluate, and negotiate Bodily Injury, General Liability, and Auto Liability claims across the state of Vermont. The ideal candidate will have strong investigative and negotiation skills, experience handling casualty field claims, and the ability to manage a claim workload effectively while delivering exceptional customer service.

This position requires thorough field investigations, detailed reporting, and professional communication with clients, insureds, and all parties involved in the claims process.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate casualty claims, including Bodily Injury and General Liability claims.
  • Review and apply client-specific claim handling guidelines, insurance policies, and endorsements.
  • Conduct comprehensive field investigations, including scene inspections, recorded statements, and collection of supporting documentation.
  • Prepare detailed and professional adjusting reports with findings and settlement recommendations.
  • Meet established turnaround times and respond promptly to clients, policyholders, and coworkers.
  • Effectively utilize claim management technology and related software.
  • Maintain current insurance industry and technical knowledge through continuing education.
  • Handle claims ranging from moderately complex to complex casualty losses.
  • Apply knowledge of Casualty insurance products, policy contracts, coverages, and claims processes.
  • Independently manage claim assignments, diaries, and workloads.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, management, clients, insureds, attorneys, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of casualty field claims handling experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses.
  • Strong investigative, evaluation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of liability insurance policies, coverages, and endorsements.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
  • Strong business writing and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable, clean, and presentable vehicle available for business use.
