About the role

Pillar Innovations is an Industrial Solutions and Service Company with over 15 years of experience in the Energy, Mining, Industrial Construction, Aggregate, and Renewables Industries. The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country.

Responsibilities

  • String and maintain fiber optic cable including pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines.
  • Truss, maintain, and repair fiber lines.
  • Terminate, splice, document, and test fiber optic cables.
  • Perform minor field repairs on equipment.
  • Manage worksite housekeeping duties and equipment inspections.
  • Utilize proper methods and procedures for terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant Fiber Optics experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Experience with the following equipment: ladders, bucket truck, cable puller, and reel stands preferred.
  • Small equipment experience preferred (i.e. forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.).
  • Flagger Certification preferred.
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to inspect, operate, and mobilize a bucket truck.
  • Ability to apply technical expertise, evaluate problems, and implement best practices.
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism.
  • Compute basic math calculations and take measurements.
  • Read and execute network drawings and splicing diagrams.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Participation in random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.

Skills

  • Proficiently work with fiber optic equipment such as splicers, OTDR, traffic identifiers, light-source power-meter, fiber specific hand tools, etc.
  • Stay up to date with industry standard coding for fiber optics.

Pay
