About the role

In the role of Federal Engineering Manager (EM), you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing a partnership with a Project Manager (PM)
  • Leading the technical team and executing project deliverables
  • Supporting the technical aspects of project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Assigning project tasks and providing technical guidance
  • Mentoring and training project team members
  • Performing quality checks and reviews for project deliverables
  • Leading multiple projects concurrently, managing teams in different locations
  • Identifying and developing technical expertise, attending relevant training and seminars
  • Assisting with technical papers and presentations for industry conferences
  • Participating in project reviews with management as needed

Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects
  • Leading the technical team and ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards
  • Interpreting and applying relevant standards and regulations (IEEE, NFPA 70, NESC)
  • Managing project risks and changes, and coordinating with the Project Manager and Project Controller
  • Ensuring compliance with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Designing electrical systems for buildings, including power, lighting, and life safety systems
  • Using advanced computer software for design and analysis
  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and technicians

Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings
  • A professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Experience with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Knowledge of low voltage and high voltage electrical systems
  • Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for electrical infrastructure

Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Experience with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Knowledge of low voltage and high voltage electrical systems
  • Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for electrical infrastructure

Skills

Essential skills include:

  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Advanced knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant standards and regulations (IEEE, NFPA 70, NESC)
  • Experience with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for electrical infrastructure
