Federal Engineering Manager (Electrical Engineer)
About the role
This role involves managing technical aspects of projects alongside a Project Manager, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. You will be responsible for leading a technical team, coordinating quality checks, and contributing to the development of technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects.
- Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to project team members.
- Support the technical aspects of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development, progress assessment, risk assessment, change management, and schedule management.
- Lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
- Identify and develop specific technical expertise, attend relevant training and seminars, and assist in developing technical papers and presentations.
- Coordinate and perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables according to HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements.
- Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline.
- Perform quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis.
- Participate in project reviews with management as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
Qualifications
