About the role

In the role of Federal Engineering Manager (EM), you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing a partnership with a Project Manager (PM)
  • Leading the technical team and executing project deliverables
  • Supporting the technical aspects of project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Assigning project tasks and providing technical guidance
  • Mentoring and training project team members
  • Coordinating and performing quality checks and reviews for project deliverables
  • Leading multiple projects concurrently
  • Identifying and developing specific technical expertise
  • Attending training and seminars to further develop technical understanding
  • Assisting with developing technical papers and presentations
  • Participating in project reviews with management

Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects
  • Leading the technical team and ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards
  • Managing project tasks and coordinating with other team members
  • Ensuring adherence to quality management systems and standards
  • Interpreting and applying relevant standards and regulations
  • Collaborating with senior engineers and technical leaders
  • Performing quality checks and reviews for projects from other teams

Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Experience with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for electrical infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Willingness to have a strong in-office presence 4-5 days a week
  • Interest in engaging in technical and industry groups (IEEE, NAPE, EPRI, etc.)
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm
