About the role

Spokane Produce, Inc. is an independent family-owned and operated company established in the 1940s. We provide top-quality fresh produce and related products to various clients including grocery stores, restaurants, wholesalers, and government agencies. We prioritize long-term relationships and strive to offer excellent customer service. We are currently seeking talented individuals to join our dedicated team.

Responsibilities

  • Animal Care
    • Equine care, twice daily - morning and night feed, clean stalls, check water stations, and shavings for bedding.
    • Chicken care, once a week - fill feeder, check water station, discard old shavings, dump in compost pile, apply new shavings, and dump out roosting pan.
    • Cattle care - feed according to head count and time of year, get a head count weekly, ensure an accessible water source, check salt block/mineral lick, and monitor cattle health.
    • Dog care - walk daily at 12 PM, check water.
  • Fences
    • Evaluate perimeter for safety of livestock and make necessary repairs.
  • Operating Large Equipment
    • Use tractor, swather, bale wagon, dump truck, flatbed pickup, snow plow, fuel truck, water truck, semi with flatbed trailer, bulldozer, four-wheeler sprayer.
  • Hay Production
    • Summer months: produce alfalfa and grass hay at three separate fields.
  • Irrigation
    • Place irrigation lines in fields in an organized manner, adjust watering schedules based on weather conditions.
  • Pest Control
    • Research and handle noxious weeds using a chemical handler's license.
  • Tools
    • Basic knowledge of tools and power tools required.
  • Snow Removal
    • Plow at the Spokane Produce warehouse and floral building around loading docks and employee parking.
  • Landscaping
    • Mow lawns, spray for weeds, weed-whack around chicken coop, rake flower beds, turn bark, aerate lawn, and prune bushes in the fall.

    The selected candidate will work Wednesday through Sunday or Friday through Tuesday each week, with start times between 7 AM and 3:30 PM each scheduled workday. Year-round work is available.

    Requirements

    • Must be 18 years old.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, including no marijuana use.
    • Pass a ten-year criminal background check.

    Qualifications

    Must have a basic knowledge of tools and power tools.

    Skills

    Knowledge and care of livestock, ability to complete minor repairs on farm equipment, diesel experience preferred.

    Pay

    $20.00+ hourly, depending on experience.
