Farm Hand

Responsibilities

• Assists in moving supplies and equipment as needed.
• Notifies supervisor of problems or difficulties in performing job duties.
• Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies team leader when replenishment is needed.
• Cleans out pens, paddocks, and facilities.
• Feeds and cares for livestock (goats, sheep, pigs, horses, chickens, ducks, etc.) and small animals.
• Moves and refills feed, hay, and other supplies and materials.
• Assists with the maintenance of farm structures and equipment.
• Helps with general property maintenance, including pruning plants, snow removal, and moving compost.
• Tends gardens on the property—planting, weeding, harvesting, spreading mulch, and watering.
• Notifies team leader if equipment is not working properly.
• Performs additional related duties as requested by supervisor.
• Operates equipment and machinery as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• NYS Driver’s License required.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to understand instructions given by supervisor.
• Flexible; able to accept changes in job duties.
