Norwescap is a 61-year-old anti-poverty organization with a mission to strengthen communities by creating opportunities that improve the lives of low-income individuals and families. This role contributes to a well-established, highly respected nonprofit supporting over 20,000 individuals and families each year across Northwestern New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a confidential record-keeping system including family contact documentation, parent participation, referrals, outcomes, and any other requested information.
  • Coordinates recruitment of individuals, families, partners, and volunteers.
  • Assists parents in utilizing community resources through information, referrals, follow-ups, and support systems (e.g., babysitting, public transportation); updates resources and maintains a directory.
  • Provides parenting skill information and techniques; facilitates Active Parenting Classes.
  • Develops self-confidence in parents and offers leadership/volunteer opportunities in a non-threatening, non-judgmental setting.
  • Facilitates supportive parent discussion groups to encourage mutual support and sharing regarding parent/child relationships.
  • Serves as a link between parent, school, and community; acts as a family advocate when needed.
  • Provides ongoing support and follow-through with families in relation to referral sources.
  • Utilizes family engagement to build positive rapport, highlight community strengths, and identify challenges.
  • Creates and implements special projects, activities, or presentations (minimum of four per month).
  • Uses family strengths to develop family goals to meet needs.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the Protective Factors and Essential Functions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Services, or related field preferred.
  • Three years working with culturally diverse families.
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Products, Google Suite, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

Schedule

Full Time, 35 hours per week.

Pay

$21.00–$23.00 per hour.

Work Environment

Operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. May require occasional event attendance and site visits for specific needs or advisement.
