Family Partner
Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Family Partner who is bilingual in Spanish for the Help Me Grow LA program. The position is initially funded through the end of 2026 with likelihood of extension.
About the role
The Family Partner will work under the direction of the Sr. Family Partner Coordinator, providing guidance to Help Me Grow LA (HMG LA) clients seeking support for their child with developmental concerns or special needs. The Family Partner will provide information, referrals, training, and support to parents facing challenges finding resources for their child. They will identify parents for the Parent-to-Parent (P2P) program and promote the development of emerging parent advocates and leaders. Must be a parent of a special needs child.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for clients seeking services through HMG LA
- Cover one service planning area (SPA 3 or SPA 6)
- Provide information and technical assistance on early intervention, state, and local resources to parents, caregivers, and providers
- Identify and facilitate supports and collaboration activities with diverse communities to promote early identification, intervention, and health equity
- Offer information and resource materials at community-based public meetings, conferences, and health fairs
- Responsible for data collection and record-keeping in a client management software application
- Connect parents to training activities offered by HMG LA and other local, state, and national organizations
- Provide support to all parents, including non-English speakers or those with limited English proficiency
- Attend DPH regional office meetings, all staff meetings, and other requested meetings
- Serve in advisory and consultant roles to regional coalitions supporting families with Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN)
- Collaborate with DPH, MCAH, and Health Promotion Bureau efforts to support CYSHCN and HMG LA's Parent-to-Parent (P2P) program
- Participate in a learning community with other family partners to identify best practices and develop countywide resources
- Establish a local home for the countywide P2P program
- Perform other duties as requested by the Project Director or Program Manager
Requirements
- CHW Certification or commitment to completing a CHW certificate program within 1 year of hire
- Two years of experience as a parent representative, advocate, or leader in a human or health service program serving children or families
- Lived experience parenting a child with special needs, disabilities, and/or chronic illness
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Empathy for families from all racial/ethnic groups and children with a wide range of special needs
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion of all children and families
- Ability to build trust with partners across different sectors serving families
- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and goal-oriented work style
- Valid Class C California Driver's License or ability to use alternative transportation
- Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle to commute to SPA areas
Qualifications
- Work experience with people with mental health or developmental disabilities, community outreach, or as a referral coordinator providing resources
- Experience with early identification and intervention
- Experience with data entry, data collection, and/or record-keeping using software
- Experience providing culturally affirming support to diverse communities in LA County, particularly those most impacted by health disparities
- Fluency in English and another language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Cantonese/Mandarin, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese)

Service Planning Area 6 (SPA 6): Athens, Compton, Crenshaw, Florence, Hyde Park, Lynwood, Paramount, and Watts.
Schedule
- Part-time: 25 hours per week, 5 hours per day (e.g., 8am–1pm or 1pm–6pm)
- Monday through Friday
