Credential of Competency
The state requires all Instructional Assistants working with students in special education to have a minimum of 48 or more undergraduate credits or a Credential of Competency. To obtain this credential, special education paraprofessionals must complete 1-7 free trainings (2 hours per training) via PATTAN and submit a Credential of Competency Checklist for approval by the Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education.
