About the Role

University Prep is seeking K-5 Special Education Paraprofessionals for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for individuals who are mission-driven, love working with people, and are committed to educational equity for all children.

What You'll Do

  • Embody mission and vision of University Prep along with the organization's core values.
  • Teach, support and enhance school-wide systems and expectations at all times with all children.
  • Provide classroom supports to students. This includes (but is not limited to): preparation and distribution of classroom materials, support during arrival, dismissal and snack/bathroom.
  • Provide 1:1 support to scholars as needed.
  • Support during school wide events and/or field trips.
  • Completed administrative tasks as needed to support a grade level team.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Option to work full time or part time depending upon availability and desire.
  • Hourly rate $23 - $28/hr. Depending on experience.
  • For those working full time U Prep pays 100% of the employee's personal medical benefit and provides options to elect dental, vision, critical illness and accident benefits.
  • Are you interested in working towards a BA degree in pursuit of a career in teaching? U Prep offers the opportunity to enroll in Reach University, while contributing $2,000 per year to tuition expenses in support of this goal.
  • U Prep contributes up to $600 to a personal wellness account for each employee.

Requirements

  • Full commitment to, belief in, and alignment with mission and vision of University Prep.
  • Full commitment to organization's core values and core identity.
  • Unyielding optimism that children can perform at or above grade level regardless of where they may be starting their educational journey.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year working in urban education and/or with a diverse student population.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong organizational skills as evidenced by exceptional time and task management.
  • A "whatever it takes" disposition.
  • Ability to work in person/in the school building. This is not a remote/telecommuting role.
  • Openness to feedback and a strong desire for continual growth and development as a professional.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for scholar outcomes and achievement without excuse.
  • Demonstrated track record of operating with a growth mindset and deep humility in all previous roles.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred (English/Spanish).
