Faculty Tutor III- Science (Part-time) Staff Pool

Houston Community College (HCC) is an open-admission, community college system offering associate degrees, certificates, workforce training, and lifelong learning opportunities across 14 Centers of Excellence and numerous satellite centers in the Greater Houston area.

About the role

Responsible for directly tutoring individuals by asking and answering questions and demonstrating examples relating to the subject.

Responsibilities

• Tutor all students in any setting, including college-level academic transfer courses.
• Ask and answer academic questions, using examples relating to a particular subject.
• Provide analytic and diagnostic services for students to improve their academic performance.
• Process new students, ensuring their learning needs are met.
• Provide support services required during the semester.
• Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials.
• May assist in tracking student performance.

Requirements

• Same credential as required to teach in the subject area (photocopy of transcript must accompany application).
• Three (3) years of relevant work experience in the related academic area of study.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-organized, task-oriented, and flexible.
• Strong interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a large multicultural environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
