Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Science

About the role

The College of Science at San José State University offers a MS Data Science degree, service learning courses, general education courses, and elective courses. The position involves teaching undergraduate courses including Sci 2/Success in Science, Sci 157SL/Community Action/Community Service, and UNVS 101/Leadership and Career Accelerator. Positions are part-time and start at the beginning of a semester.

Responsibilities

• Teach small to large lecture courses as well as seminars and activity sections.
• Evaluate adult learners and evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.
• Teach according to the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester.
• Teach in accordance with the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Science or related fields or equivalent is strongly recommended.
• An MS degree with teaching experience would be considered for teaching activity sections.
• Knowledge of the subject matter of the specific course.
• Good oral and written communication skills, commitment to student learning and team performance are required.
• Demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity.
