Department of Biology Part-time Lecturer Pool

About the role

The Department of Biology at California State University, San Bernardino is seeking part-time lecturer applications for both the San Bernardino Campus (SBC) and Palm Desert Campus (PDC).

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in General Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, or other topics in the field of Biology.
• Maintain a safe learning environment and observe safety guidelines, especially in laboratory activities.
• Read and evaluate student papers, homework, and other assignments.
• Promptly record and post student grades.
• Maintain scheduled office hours outside of teaching times.
• Communicate regularly with course coordinators and attend course team meetings.
• Return graded work promptly and record grades regularly.
• Return final section grades by the last day of final exams.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.
• A strong command of the subject matter, course design and preparation, instructional material, and organizational skills.
• Experience teaching in the appropriate field and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.

• Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued.
• Exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at the program level is preferred.

• Lecturer B (Range 3): $6,221 – $13,224
• Lecturer C (Range 4): $6,825 – $14,523
• Lecturer D (Range 5): $8,593 – $15,211

Pay

Schedule

This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary and all appointments are temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term right up to the beginning of the academic term.
