Faculty position, Department of Oncology - Division of Quality of Life and Palliative Care

About the role

We seek a highly motivated, faculty-level (clinician scientist track) candidate at the Associate or Assistant Member level with training in hematology-oncology and/or hospice and palliative medicine, a proven track of excellence in academic potential, and a strong interest in palliative/supportive care in patients undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses including oncologic and hematologic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care services under the leadership of the Division Director, Director of Oncology Clinical Medicine, and the Department of Oncology Chair.
• Participate in clinical, educational, and translational research initiatives within the Department of Oncology.
• Serve the Oncology patients/families, and provide consultation services to patients in the Departments of Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy and Pediatric Medicine.
• Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration for both clinical and research activities within the Division of Quality of Life and Palliative Care.
• Implement strategies incorporating clinical education into daily practice to ensure the satisfactory learning experience of Hem-Onc fellows, Palliative Care fellows, residents, and medical school students in Quality of Life and Palliative Care service.

Requirements

• An MD, MD/PhD or DO degree and be Board certified or Board-eligible in pediatric hematology-oncology and/or hospice and palliative medicine.
• Expertise in the areas of hematology and oncology and/or hospice and palliative medicine.
• A proven track record of academic productivity.

Qualifications

• Diverse portfolio of investigator initiated and collaborative studies spanning the areas of communication science, symptom assessment and management, palliative interventional research, implementation science, education, and bereavement.
• Experience in mentorship and fellowship training within the academic setting, and in incorporating quality and/or process improvement into daily inpatient/outpatient clinical practice.

Skills

• Strong interest in palliative/supportive care in patients undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses including oncologic and hematologic conditions.
• Ability to engage in multidisciplinary collaboration for both clinical and research activities.
• Experience in mentorship and fellowship training within the academic setting.
• Proven track record of academic productivity.
