Facility Operations Assistant 1Custodial
About the role
The Facility Operations Assistant 1Custodial plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment within residence halls and academic and administrative buildings. This position includes general cleaning duties, furniture coordination and event support, lighting and high areas cleaning, maintenance and grounds work, and safety hazard removal.
Responsibilities
- Use mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning implements to wash, wax, vacuum, and shampoo carpets, floors, corridors, stairs and stairwells, walls, partitions, windows from the inside of buildings, etc.
- Collect trash and recyclables from offices, centralized trash locations, designated trash rooms and dormitories, and transport to the exterior dumpster.
- Use hand-dusting equipment to dust assigned areas.
- Use hand-operated equipment and detergents to scrub and clean all areas of lavatories, such as sinks, showers, urinals, toilets, etc.
- Use designated equipment to polish wood and metal fixtures and equipment.
- Assist with cleaning for absent employees as directed or assigned.
- Move furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning and care functions.
- Move furniture within the building for office moves.
- Set up furniture and equipment in assigned areas, such as athletic fields, gymnasiums, and conference or meeting rooms, as needed.
- Use appropriate equipment such as ladders and aerial lifts to clean light fixtures and replace light bulbs in high places.
- Remove snow and salt sidewalks or stairs adjacent to the assigned building entrance.
- Use manual and/or mechanical equipment to occasionally clean sidewalks, yards, and driveways.
- Weed garden beds adjacent to the assigned building in summer months.
- Assist maintenance with basic maintenance during summer/winter to include painting within dormitories.
- Fill in for absent employees within the assigned zone.
- Pick up and remove any hazardous items as directed.
Requirements
No specific education level or experience is required for this position.
Qualifications
Must be able to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving heavy objects, and have a valid driver's license if required for transportation of materials.
Skills
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and willingness to learn new tasks are essential. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
$36,232 annually
Schedule
Monday through Friday schedule with shifts of 4:00pm-12:30am and 5:00pm-1:30am
