Duties
- Aid fish culturists in daily fish care, including moving fish, sampling fish, and assisting in truck loading.
- Participate in public outreach activities and interact with visitors to the hatchery.
- Perform lawn care tasks such as string trimming, mowing, and other ground maintenance.
- Conduct general maintenance around the facility, assisting with projects involving carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and minor electrical work.
- Maintain and operate various pieces of equipment.
Qualifications
- No formal education or experience qualifications are required for this position.
- Applicants must be physically capable of performing the tasks of the position and be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must hold a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated.
- Experience with automotive and construction equipment is preferred but not required.
Additional Comments
- Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
- Must be able to navigate challenging terrains and work in remote areas.
- Must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Travel may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
