Facility Maintenance Worker II (Non-Merit)

Job Duties

• Captures and performs work of employees in ground maintenance functions such as cutting grass, trimming, sweeping, and applying weed control chemicals.
• Operates various power tools like chainsaws, power blowers, powered trimmers, and tractor mowers.
• Operates snow removal equipment such as a four-wheel drive pickup with snow blade, spreader, and dump truck.
• Serves as lead worker in general janitorial duties including cleaning restrooms, washing windows, sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, washing walls, partition, blinds, emptying trash, and other miscellaneous janitorial tasks.
• Maintains and orders cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Performs minor maintenance and repairs such as bulbs, filters, belts, cover plates, painting, ceiling and floor tiles, faucet washers, and minor carpentry work.
• Assists trades personnel in performing more technical building maintenance tasks when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

• No formal education required.
• One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Formal training in one of the above or related fields can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• No substitute experience for education.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must follow safety procedures, including the use of eye and ear protection when using certain mechanical equipment.

• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Must follow safety procedures.
