Facility Maintenance Worker II (Non Merit)

Description

The Facilities Division is hiring a Facility Maintenance Worker II position that coordinates and performs work of employees in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds and associated equipment; serves as lead worker in the general maintenance and upkeep of a facility at the Kentucky Air National Guard base.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and performs work of employees in ground maintenance functions of cutting grass/trimming/sweeping/applying weed control chemicals that do not require certification/snow removal
• Operates various power tools such as chainsaws, power blowers, powered trimmers, tractor mowers
• Operates snow removal equipment such as four-wheel drive pickup with snow blade, spreader and dump truck
• Serves as lead worker in general janitorial duties including, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, washing walls, partition blinds, emptying trash and other miscellaneous janitorial duties in various buildings at the Kentucky Air National Guard
• Monitors use of cleaning supplies and chemicals; orders replacement stock as required
• Performs minor maintenance and repair to include, but not limited to, bulbs, filters, belts, cover plates, painting, ceiling and floor tiles, faucet washers and minor carpentry work
• Assists trades personnel in performance of more technical building maintenance tasks when required from outside resources

Minimum Requirements

Education: None

Experience, Training, or Skills: One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.

Substitute Education for Experience: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Pay: $29,513.28 - $44,270.88 Annually
