About the role
Under supervision, perform general recreation duties, routine clerical and facility maintenance work, and related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the public to provide information regarding programs and services
- Greet the public and answer telephones; respond to routine procedural and directional inquiries
- Promote City programs and services
- Distribute and collect recreation equipment
- Assist with monitoring City facilities to enforce rules and regulations
- Maintain facility equipment, supplies, and cleanliness; collect refuse and litter
- Process activity registrations and monetary transactions using computer software
- Complete standard forms and facility set-up/breakdown
- Perform proper opening and closing procedures of buildings and facilities
- Set up picnic and facility reservation signage
- Drive on City business
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent at time of appointment
- Valid CPR, communicable diseases, and First Aid certificate(s) from an authorized provider within three months of appointment (must maintain throughout employment)
- Physical ability to move and position objects weighing up to 20 pounds (assistance recommended for heavier items)
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods
Qualifications
- Knowledge of customer service principles
- Proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation (not a language restriction per California Government Code Section 12951)
- Skill in using computers and various software
- Ability to learn facility rules, regulations, and maintenance operations
- Ability to perform clerical functions and accurately account for monetary transactions
- Ability to multitask at a public counter
- Ability to learn modern office methods, procedures, and equipment
- High level of customer service for the public and staff
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and the public
Desirable Qualifications
