Facilities Worker I - (Custodial)

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of PVSC buildings by performing routine cleaning and custodial maintenance duties, as well as manual and unskilled labor related to light equipment operations, landscaping, and snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and custodial maintenance duties.
• Operate light motorized equipment for landscaping and snow removal.
• Respond to emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
• Enter confined spaces while wearing required PPE, including canister and dust masks, and SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus).
• Follow safety precautions and standard methods for janitorial duties and equipment operation.

Requirements

• High School or Vocational School Diploma.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in basic janitorial service or general landscaping.
• Experience with light motorized equipment preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to perform duties and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of standard methods, tools, and equipment used in janitorial duties and safety precautions.
• Ability to learn key elements of housekeeping for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
• Must qualify for and perform entry into confined spaces while wearing PPE.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs., carry, reach, push, pull, use a keyboard, and use tools.
• Manual dexterity and ability to work in confined spaces.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system, both indoors and outdoors.

Pay

Expected base pay range for this position is $59,884 to $91,221. The specific salary offered may be influenced by relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
